"The simplistic beauty of the dizi,
of the most ancient of instruments,
unchanged throughout the years,
still falls sweetly upon the ears."

This page shows how to encode dizi 123 notes in order to transcribe them to the ABC Music Format.

Chinese flute folk music is traditionally written in numbered notation, or 123 notation. Numerical notation denotes fingering, which in different instrument keys renders different note frequencies.

Note that in the encoding here, the 123 format notes look exactly the same as ABC format notes. This is done so that it is compatible with all ABC music specifications.
